Best of TEDxYYC – Father George Coyne

Mar 26, 2014

George Coyne: Chance or Necessity? If we are here by chance, who needs god? If we are here by necessity, is it god’s?

The universe is expanding, with hundreds of billions of galaxies full of stars. When stars are born, it creates energy; when stars die, it builds up heavier elements (and in turn, creates new stars). We are third generation stardust. Our Earth came about by both chance and necessity.

What kind of god would design our universe with us in it? George thinks it must be a magnificent god. Watch it again.
