Do you have an idea worth spreading?

TEDxYYC is looking for innovators, scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, inventors, thinkers, writers and more to speak at our event.

If you are interested in speaking at an upcoming TEDxYYC event, please complete the form below and submit a video of no longer than 3 minutes. Your video does not need to be professionally shot, a simple phone recording of you speaking is enough.

The information you provide will highlight your ‘idea worth spreading’ and help us assess potential fit with our speaker lineup. We will select a shortlist of speakers to present their idea at our live Idea Search event in late November 2019. All speaker applications will be reviewed by the committee and kept in confidence. You will be contacted by a committee member if your submission is being considered.

Video Application process

Applicants must submit a video (max. 3 minutes) in which they briefly introduce themselves and present the idea they would like to share on the TEDxYYC stage. There is no specific structure applicants must follow, however an “elevator pitch” of their idea is required. We recommend a 30-60 second introduction followed by at least a 2 minute pitch. Elements of the pitch can include why their idea is important to them personally, how do they know their idea works, as well as why they believe it is an idea worth sharing. Any other details which the applicant would like to share for our consideration is also welcomed.

TEDx talk guidelines

TEDxYYC does not feature talks on politics, pseudoscience, religion or ideas that are primarily inspirational, motivational or self-promotional in nature. Please only submit an idea that objectively represents all three of these essential requirements:

The idea is IMPORTANT
The idea is INTERESTING
The idea is UNIQUE
