Inspired by a young boy in Alberta’s Parkour community with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome who explores the world through the lens of his favourite superhero and final conversations the creators had with their Alzheimer’s-suffering grandparents, MindFire is a play that explores the beauty and strength that non-normative realities can lend to life. Through wearable tech, projections and Parkour, MindFire weaves a story of hope and reconciliation. Co-creator Steve Nagy of Rocket House introduces this five-minute preview; the full play takes the stage September 2016.
Rocket House Productions created the world’s first Parkour-inspired play, MindFire, featuring a compelling story about mental health. In partnership with the Autism Asperger’s Friendship Society, Alzheimer Society of Calgary, Breathe Parkour and Calgary 2012, Rocket House navigates through a dynamic story about an old man searching through his fragmented memories for his long lost wife and a young girl whose reality is populated by superheroes of her imagination.
