From Smoke and Mirrors to Quantum Teleportation | Dr. Wolfgang Tittel

Feb 28, 2018

Dr. Wolfgang Tittel explores quantum teleportation. Not quite the same as Star Trek, but not that far away either. In this engaging and informative talk, Dr. Tittel breaks down his most recent scientific breakthrough, and explains what means for us today. He teaches us about the importance of following big ideas that leap the world forward, and invites us to allow ourselves to dream big. Dr. Tittel is a University of Calgary physics professor with over two decades of groundbreaking research – featuring pivotal discoveries that helped elevate quantum physics out of the laboratory and into the real world. A Senior Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, Wolfgang‘s interests range from fundamental research into entangled particles, the behavior of atoms at near absolute zero, and applications of quantum communications.

In 2016, Wolfgang and his team took to social media to showcase a demonstration of quantum teleportation across Calgary – a first for a scientific discovery.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
