Calgary’s eighth-annual TEDxYYC event returns to Arts Commons on June 23
CALGARY, AB – Bringing Calgary’s largest independently-organized TED event to stage, TEDxYYC will return on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall at Arts Commons. In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, this year’s TEDxYYC event will celebrate Canadiana and feature a collection of inspiring speakers and performers from across the nation. Over the past seven years, TEDxYYC has been honoured to collaborate with some of the world’s brightest minds – highlighting what is innovative, imaginative and inspiring in the fields of Technology, Entertainment and Design. A beacon of Calgary’s cultural landscape, TEDxYYC will continue to build upon that legacy in 2017.
TEDxYYC revels in the curiosity of the avant-garde, the spirited dialogue and the challenge of ideas that explore the intersection of human ability and imagination. In the spirit of ‘ideas worth spreading’ and expanding the footprint of local arts, TEDxYYC is piloting an Artist in Residence program this year – inviting all Calgary-based artists spanning various fields to apply for the TEDxYYC 2017 Artist in Residence program. The call for applications closes on March 31, 2017 at 5:00pm MT. More details online at https://tedxyyc.ca/artists.
“A love for lifelong learning and a catalyst for positive change are at the heart of the TEDx journey,” says Brooke Boser, TEDxYYC 2017 Committee Co-Chair. “We look forward to gathering with our vibrant TEDxYYC community again in June to provide a local forum for ideas worth spreading.”
With more than 1,200 attendees taking part in last year’s event and live-stream, TEDxYYC 2017 is poised to provoke meaningful discussion among Calgarians and across the global community.
A limited quantity of group tickets (packages of 8-12 tickets) to TEDxYYC 2017 will go on sale to the public at TEDxYYC.ca/tickets on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. MT. General tickets will go on sale the following week on Friday, March 10, 2017.
