TEDxYYC is inviting Calgarians and the surrounding area to participate in the first ever TEDxYYC Games between August 1 – 10. Complete ten missions in ten days for a chance to win FREE TICKETS to the 2020 TEDxYYC Drive-In event on August 20.
The goal of this fun and interactive initiative is to encourage Calgarians to explore our beautiful city and support local, small businesses.
How Does TEDxYYC Games Work?
Each day, there is a new mission at a designated small business location in Calgary that has been selected to receive much-deserved love during these hard times. Upon arriving at the location, there is a red X for players to snap a photo with.
Players must download the GooseChase app in order to participate (a scavenger hunt platform TEDxYYC Games will operate on). The app can be downloaded from Apple store or Google Play store.
After downloading the app, access the TEDxYYC Games by typing in this code: B5G614. Once inside the TEDxYYC Games, create your profile. Each day is a new mission (watch for the new missions released the night before). Bonus missions will also appear for the chance to earn extra points.
A NEW DAY, A NEW MISSION: Each location is a new mission and available for one day only = Each mission will expire at the end of that day.
BONUS MISSIONS:
Post your selfie with the red X on social media, use #TEDxYYCGames, tag @TEDxYYC and tag one friend to qualify for 500 points. This bonus mission is available for every location throughout the whole ten days.
Location-specific bonus missions are available, check your app to see what they are. Completion of a bonus mission will earn you 500 bonus points. Location-specific bonus missions will expire at the end of the day as well.
Please note, you must complete each day’s mission within the specified timeframe. Check your GooseChase app for timeframes.
Using The GooseChase App:
Open the GooseChase app and click on the available mission. Then click Snap Evidence and it will activate the camera. Make sure to click Submit Evidence to earn your 500 points. Some locations may have bonus points so ensure notifications are enabled and watch for those in your app!

At the end of Day 10, the two players with the highest points will each WIN A FREE TICKET to the 2020 TEDxYYC Drive-In Event on August 20 (valued at $100 each). If there are several players with equal points, a random draw of those players will be made and winners will be announced via the GooseChase app on the evening of August 10, and again through our social media channels. Individuals will also be notified by email with details on how to access their ticket.
Participating Shops, Restaurants and Organizations:
We have some amazing local shops and restaurants participating including: a bakery, a coffee shop, a green lifestyle shop, an organic produce market and many more. We’re also excited to host one of our missions with The Alex Community Health Bus. All locations will be revealed when TEDxYYC Games begins.
