TEDx Around Town

The TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. In Calgary, and province-wide, we’re fortunate to have so many individuals committed to organzing local events so that we spread worthwhile ideas to our communities.

Get your calendar handy, because we’ve got you covered from here til June with all things TEDx in your backyard. While we continue to gear up for our event on May 25th at the TELUS Spark Science Centre, here’s a few events to whet your appetite in the meantime (after you fill out your TEDxYYC event application, that is).

TEDxUofC – Building a Legacy

MacEwan hall ballroom at the U of C will host this event on March 30th, 2012. While applications have already closed, don’t fret: TEDxUofC offers live streaming of the event online.

Building a Legacy has been tailored to motivate and inspire young entrepreneurial leaders to take the initiative to impact the global community. With an emphasis on entrepreneurship, TEDxUofC seeks to broaden the traditional definition to include anyone who acts on an idea passionately.

Speaker highlights include: Angel Guerra and Angela Dione, co-founders of Market Collective, Astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk, and composer Zachary Wadsworth.

TEDxCalgary – The Big Picture

Our friends at TEDxCalgary are hosting one of the official satellite events for TEDxChange 2012: The Big Picture on April 10th, 2012. TEDxChange 2012 is a TEDx event co-organized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and TED. Convened by Melinda French Gates and hosted by Chris Anderson, the emphasis of this event is global health and development. TEDxChange events are hosted via live webcast and are generally combined with local speakers.

TEDxEdmonton – Save the date

The third annual TEDxEdmonton event will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Maclab Theatre at the Citadel Theatre. Tune in here for more details.
